Thanks For Giving…

The wishbone hasn’t even been plucked from the bird’s butt and yet, I feel as though I’ve snapped the sucker in half, gotten the bigger side and won my wish.

I started this blog a little less than four months ago and despite my recent neglect, you’ve been reading it. In that short time, I’ve gotten 582 views. I’m proud of that!

Many thanks to you, and yours, for showing in an interest in what I think of food.

May your dressing be moist, your cranberries bitterly sweet, your potatoes basked in butter and your turkey gravy grazed.

This year I’ve made my own cranberry sauce… in the slow-cooker.. It was a bit more bitter than I’d hoped – so I added some agave. It’s in the fridge – I think it’ll be even better when the flavors chill out and mesh! It’s a combination of cranberries, apples, rosemary, ginger ale and orange juice. (I did it early just in case it was a miss, not a hit. That’d give me time to get the kind that resembles the can that farted it out!)

Usually I do my step-mom’s dressing: croutons, ground beef and Rice-a-Roni. Trust me – it’s SO good. But, it’s really more of a side dish. This year, I’m making-up my own. Cornbread muffins, white bread, lots of sauteed sweet onions, celery, dried thyme and sage from my garden. We’ll see!

The turkey is a gift. It’s coming from a smokehouse. That’ll be a first, too.

I’ll give you pictures and recipes once the coma wears off.

Tell me what you’re making. Are you trying anything new this year??

Tip: Be patient. I’ve got a lot to write about… my potato soup, black bean pizza and homemade marshmallows. That’s all coming your way… soon.

Can’t wait for the rest of the story! I made my cranberry sauce last night…it was so sharp compared to the canned kind. But I think it will be good. It’s hiding in the fridge.

Time for another installment, isn’t it? I want to hear about that black bean pizza…
